NEW SINGLE & VIDEO
How long has it been since I “officially” put anything out?
First person to answers wins a free trip to………………….the mail box?
“On June 19th Bandcamp is donating 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a racial justice organization with a long history of effectively enacting change through litigation, advocacy, and public education”
Is this from the forth coming new record? (No, not yet, and more on that below)
This is a new song about obsession, compulsion, kleptomania, kleptophobia (who knew that was a thing) loosely based on Roky Erickson from the 13th Floor Elevators (with love & respect) about his bout with schizophrenia and subsequent charges of mail theft in the late 80’s
Jesus with the Devils tail!
Last year I went deep into the Roky catalogue as part of a tribute show for him at the Makeout room last year (thx Parker & Tom) and listened to nothing but his work for over a month, as well as digging into his life & story. At the time I didn’t know much about his work other than a few things like “Two Headed Dog, Reverberation, Your Gonna Miss Me” but the more I got into it, the more I noticed all these Bay Area connections, besides the obvious Austin, Texas ones. Tom & Clementine Hall, Powell St John, and the connection to Janis Joplin. It opened up a musical obsession to dig into as many musical & historical nooks and crannies that I could get my hands on. It’s one of the great things about music and it’s timelessness. Thus the wormhole began.
But the one song that I couldn’t stop listening to was “Splash 1’” and I still can’t figure out what about that song that is so mesmerizing to me. I can’t describe it, I can only feel it, and it’s calming. On the other hand so much of their music has this wobbly almost queasy effect that’s transitive, and that’s the vibe that I was trying to capture here in this song.
A big thanks to Jerry Becker for playing, recording, mixing & producing it as well as James Deprato for all the eery orchestral guitar magic.
The video was put together by the magical & wonderful Chris Carlone,
(My Pollo Elastico brother) who I knew and trusted to be the perfect person to bring this crazy song to life. Thank you so much CC.
We hope that you like it and please share along the lines if you feel inspired.

GOD SAVE THE CITY: new record update!
It’s finally mastered, the artwork is getting put together, videos are being made, and it’s looking for a home. It needs a proper place for it to spread into the world. Can you help?
It’s topics are as current as it can get, and I wish that weren’t the case!
The band is ready to play and we’ve missed seeing all of you and we look to make up our April show at the Ivy room that was canceled because of Covid 19.
We hope that you can support some of the clubs that we love and cherish in the Bay when they open, and if you can help out now, that’s even better.
