Harmony Of Passing Light: Itunes, CD Baby
Last year (Dec 2nd 2012) we went into Coast Recorders studio with Michael Romanowski & full band, including string trio, to perform a show recreating the record “Harmony Of Passing Light” in front of a live audience. There were special guests: Robert Tepper, Megan Slankard, Dylan Brock. We got to perform our version of “No Easy Way Out” with Robert Tepper. Megan Slankard sang “Bumbelina” with me. We did Joni Mitchell’s song “River” as well as “To Love Somebody” with Robert & Megan. Dylan played his infamous “manjo” on “Night Fades.” There was public drinking & it was close to the holidays. There was mild heckling & I kept my clothes on. Some people sang, some did the wave, some laughed at my bad jokes. Any laughing at jokes was intentionally kept in there as I thought I was funnier last time.
None of us thought it would take this long to get finished, but some times these things need to stay on the stove a little bit longer. Albeit a year later. So to make a short story slightly longer, I wanted to let you know that the wait is over for everyone. Not that you were waiting, mostly Michael & I were. DVD’s will be available through this website in a couple of weeks, and anyone who was at either of our “Live @ Coast” shows last year is entitled to one, and we appreciated you being there with us.
There will be a DVD release show on Friday Jan 3rd @ Rickshaw Stop, one of my favorites places to play in SF, and a great room to hear music in. We’re sharing the bill with 2 amazing bands: We Became Owls featuring Andrew Blair, and what I call “the mighty” Felsen who are officially releasing their stellar record “I Don’t Know How To Talk Anymore.” This will be a great night to kick off the new year, and this show is being promoted by Appleberry Jam and the awesomeness of Bill Hansell. I will have DVD’s for sale and we hope that you can make it, and appreciate everyone’s patience, and support this year for our music. It’s been quite a ride!
There’s a ton of folks to thank, and have to start with the incredible effort put forth by Michael Romanowski, who put it all on the line, and his cohort Piper Payne at Coast Recorders. Jules Kobelin, and her crew of camera operators (Jeff Deveraux, Justin Chin, Ben Leon, Winnie Wong), also Morgan Brown who edited all of this from afar, Brianne Lucke for the amazing artwork, and Tamarind Free Jones, for the awesome photos documenting the day. I also have to thank the spectacular performances by the band, and couldn’t have asked for a better group of talented musicians to work with. To perform and record live in this amazing room without head phones, with strings was beyond tricky. The members: Erik Schramm, Andrew Griffin, Adam Rossi, Pie Fiorentino, Laela Peterson-Stolen, Patty Espeseth & Joey Dibono, gave it their all, kicked ass, and sipped the occasional bourbon with everyone in the room. In fact when you watch this, you can play a game called “count the sips of bourbon”
And in closing the hot news off the press is that our good friend & confidante Jeff Campbell is going to be performing live on the Jimmy Kimmel show on Dec 12th, and as luck would have it, he’s asked me to join him with an amazing arsenal of local talent performing a new song from his soon to be released, John Shanks produced, EP “In Spite Of Everything” If you’d like to attend the show and live in LA, you can get tickets here, as well as a Facebook Event page.
